Surfers Against Sewage has launched its latest campaign against marine plastic called 'Wasteland' and has created a 30-ft warship made out of ocean plastic from around the UK's coastline to illustrate its point. It is made out of five tonnes of plastic waste collected from around the UK.

The aim is to highlight the charity's latest study which found one in four people are unaware not all plastics are recyclable. The findings also show a third of Brits throw away more than three plastic bottles on a weekly basis despite them being either refillable or recyclable.

Wasteland is not only the name of the plastic ship, it is also the name given to a growing raft of plastic waste floating in the central Pacific Ocean made from plastic discarded by people both on boats and onshore.
