Following the devastating effects of\u00a0record rainfall and extreme flood events last winter, the government has\u00a0issued a national flood resilience review to assess how the country can be better protected from future flooding and extreme weather events. The stress testing of\u00a0their modelling and flood risk maps carried out as part of this review has identified the areas of the country which are at risk of flooding.\u00a0The next task is to improve how people are told whether they could be at risk and encourage them to take action. The water and telecommunications industries\u00a0have been asked\u00a0to make their infrastructure more resilient in case of similar events this year, while the Environment Agency is able to provide four times as many barriers as it could last year.<\/p>\n
