Chichester Harbour Conservancy have a few green words of advice to offer people visiting Chichester Harbour. We feel they are extremely useful wherever you are on the footpaths and byways of the Manhood Peninsula:<\/p>\n
When visiting the harbour, please keep to the designated footpaths. Walking off the paths can be very damaging to habitats. Keep your dog under control all the time, dogs can cause unnecessary disturbance to wildlife and habitats.<\/p>\n
Take time to learn more about this unique Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There is lots of information on this website and various publications are available from the Harbour Office. Around the harbour you find interpretation panels giving more information on specific areas. Join one of the guided walks or activities<\/a> to learn more in an informal and fun way.<\/p>\n Please don\u2019t leave litter, it is unsightly and can be damaging to wildlife. Use waste and recycling facilities. Take your own shopping bag with you rather than taking more carrier bags.<\/p>\n Compost or shred garden rubbish rather than burning it. Bonfires in harbourside properties must not be on the foreshore.<\/p>\n Walk, cycle, take the bus or car share and reduce your impact on the environment. Use the Salterns Way<\/a> cycle route to reach the eastern side of the harbour.<\/p>\n Use local farm shops and craft centres. Many restaurants and cafes promote local, seasonal produce \u2013 if you are not sure where something has come from, ask. Local fish can be bought from the fish shop at East Wittering. The beef is produced from cows raised on coastal grazing marsh.
