For the first time in nearly thirty years, rare Black Winged Stilts have hatched at two sites in the UK, one of which is Medmerry. The RSPB announced this amazing fact a few days ago. Black Winged Stilts are found rarely in northern climes, but climate change and increasing dry periods in their usual nesting ground may be forcing them to move northwards. This scenario may have led to their presence at Medmerry and on the Kent Marshes, where chicks have been observed.<\/p>\n
