The Government\u2019s plans to give local communities more say about planning and development passed into law when the Localism Act received Royal Assent on 15th November 2011.<\/p>\n
The Localism Act represents the first stage of the Government\u2019s sweeping reforms to the planning regime in England and Wales.<\/p>\n
The Act introduces a number of new approaches\u00a0for local communities, such as the new right for communities to draw up a neighbourhood plan. It also introduces a new requirement for developers to consult local communities before submitting planning applications for certain developments.<\/p>\n
