{"id":1956,"date":"2011-06-05T15:06:58","date_gmt":"2011-06-05T15:06:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peninsulapartnership.org.uk\/?p=1956"},"modified":"2011-06-05T15:06:58","modified_gmt":"2011-06-05T15:06:58","slug":"uk-national-ecosystem-assessment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/peninsulapartnership.org.uk\/uk-national-ecosystem-assessment\/","title":{"rendered":"UK National Ecosystem Assessment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The hidden value of the natural environment has been shown for the first time in a new independent\u00a0report revealing that nature is worth billions of pounds to the UK economy.\u00a0 The report, <a href=\"https:\/\/peninsulapartnership.org.uk\/abd\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/UK_National-Ecosystem-Assessment_Final1.pdf\">UK National Ecosystem Assessment <\/a>(UK NEA), has used new approaches to estimate the value of the natural world by taking account of the economic, health and social benefits we get from nature.<\/p>\n<p>At one time it was thought that caring for the environment meant extra financial burdens, however the UK NEA shows that looking after nature offers a number of economic benefits, but also contributes to our health well being.
