{"id":113,"date":"2009-10-22T12:45:30","date_gmt":"2009-10-22T11:45:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peninsulapartnership.org.uk\/?p=113"},"modified":"2020-07-03T08:34:04","modified_gmt":"2020-07-03T08:34:04","slug":"espace","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/peninsulapartnership.org.uk\/projects\/espace\/","title":{"rendered":"ESPACE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Early on in its life, the MPP became part of a European funded project \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.espace-project.org\/\">European Spatial Planning: Adapting to Climate Events<\/a> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.espace-project.org\/\">ESPACE<\/a>). The project aimed to ensure that adaptation to climate change is recognised and to recommend that it is incorporated within spatial planning mechanisms at local, regional, national and European levels.<\/p>\n<p>On a local level this project helped to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>raise awareness of climate change in the community<\/li>\n<li>allow residents to understand some of the pressures facing local authorities<\/li>\n<li>encourage dialogue and cohesion between the numerous agencies and stakeholders in the area<\/li>\n<li>enable a joint response to strategic issues<\/li>\n<li>fund small scale community projects<\/li>\n<li>secure a study of land drainage - see link below<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Follow this link to the 2006 Haskoning report: <a href=\"https:\/\/peninsulapartnership.org.uk\/abd\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/2006-Royal-Haskoning-Main-Report.pdf\">Manhood Peninsula - Land Drainage Study\u00a0Phase\u00a03<\/a><\/p>\n<p>A plan for adapting to climate change on the Manhood Peninsula was produced during the project.
