Selsey Coastal Trust

Do you have an idea for a business or regeneration project on Selsey’s coastline that would enhance the town and contribute to its long-term future? If so, the Selsey Coastal Trust project would like to hear from you.

In December 2009, Chichester District Council was successfull in bidding for funding from Defra's Coastal Change Pathfinder Project. One element of the funding was to look at the feasibility of a community owned and run enterprise for Selsey called the Selsey Coastal Trust. The idea is that the Coastal Trust could develop and run a series iof projects and businesses along the coastline, generating revenue which is reinvested back into the town. The project is being investigated by a team of Town  and District Councillors called the Pre-Trust Group.

The Pre-Trust Group would now like to hear your ideas for what opportunities exist or what you think Selsey needs. The Pre-Trust Group will be running a series of workshops with the help of the South Coast Design Forum, to help understand how the community wants the town to develop, while adapting to coastal change.

The workshops will be held in the exhibition hall at Selsey Town Hall on:

· Saturday 11 September from 10am-12pm; and,

· Thursday 16 September from 2-4pm or from 7-9pm

They are open to all and you can register in the Town Hall reception or by emailing bcooper@chichester.gov.uk. Refreshments will be served.
